Gaming at Genting Casino Westcliff
Genting Casino Westcliff sits right on The Western Esplanade in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, SS0 7QY. The building looks straight out over the Thames estuary, which on its own is not a bad reason to walk through the doors. The property is run by Genting Casinos UK Limited, appears in the UK Gambling Commission register, and operates on a premises licence issued by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council. The premises registration number is 537, confirming it as an authorised gambling site in Great Britain as of 2026.
Opening hours are long. The doors open every day at 10:00 AM and do not close until 5:00 AM the next morning. That is almost continuous trading, slightly longer than a lot of regional casinos manage. There is a catch though: live tables do not start until 2:00 PM. Before that time, the action is electronic only - slot machines, electronic roulette terminals and similar games. Turning up around lunchtime for blackjack or poker means waiting around until the afternoon.

The gaming floor carries the usual spread for a provincial Genting site. Classic table games sit alongside poker, and tournament poker features in the calendar from time to time. Schedules move around though. Timings published on external listings can be out of date, so it is safer to call the venue or check the official Genting site shortly before you travel.
Planning a Visit
For standard casino play, turning up on the night normally works. There is a bookings section on the Genting Casinos website that covers events and restaurant tables, but casual visits to the main floor do not require advance reservations.
It helps to sort a couple of details before heading out:
- Look at gentingcasinos.co.uk/casinos/genting-casino-westcliff/ for event nights, live music or tournament dates.
- Double-check that live tables are starting at 2:00 PM on the day you plan to go.
- Call the venue on +44 (0) 1702 352 919 if you want to confirm a specific game, stakes level, or event entry.
- Take official photo ID showing you are at least 18. UK casinos can and do ask for it, especially if you look younger.
- New visitors might be asked to complete a short registration at the entrance before playing.
- At the reception desk, ask what promotions are currently running. Offers in the past have included things like 2-for-1 drinks on certain items.
The setting is part of the appeal. A seafront casino with the Thames estuary visible from parts of the property feels different to a windowless room in a shopping district. It changes the mood a bit, even if you spend most of your time inside at a table or a slot machine.
One general trick that tends to help in any casino: arrive earlier in the evening rather than at peak time. The room is quieter, staff are under less pressure, and there is space to walk the floor, work out the layout and pick a game without feeling rushed.
Genting Casinos UK - How the Brand Is Structured
Genting Casino Westcliff is part of a bigger network. Genting Casinos UK Limited runs Westcliff alongside more than 30 other provincial casinos around Great Britain. The same group also operates a handful of London properties under exclusive licences. Above that sits Genting UK plc as the holding company, and above that again is Genting Malaysia Berhad, the Malaysian business that turned Genting into a global casino brand.
The UK arm has been active in land-based gaming for decades, and Westcliff appears on the UKGC public register in a slightly technical way. Two entries share the same address: “Genting Casino Westcliff” and “Genting Electric Westcliff”. The second record points to the electronic gaming operation rather than a separate venue in the everyday sense. For visitors on the ground, it feels like one casino, not two different buildings.
| Entity | Role |
|---|---|
| Genting Casino Westcliff | Land-based venue, Westcliff-on-Sea |
| Genting Casinos UK Limited | UK operating company |
| Genting UK plc | UK holding company |
| Genting Malaysia Berhad | Ultimate parent group |
| GentingCasino.com | Separate online casino product |
In older brochures and some third-party listings, the property still appears as Genting Club Westcliff. That was the previous naming style across the Genting UK estate. The group has since standardised on the Genting Casino branding, so Genting Casino Westcliff is now the official title, even if the old name occasionally pops up online.
